Heller (1897-1976) was born near Kishinev, and moved to the Philadelphia, where he attended Gratz College and UPenn, with his family after the pogrom in 1903. Later, he was a student at Columbia, Hebrew Union College, where he was ordained and later taught, and the University of Michigan.
